First of all, can we please wonder out loud together what the hell is happening with time lately? How is it already almost August? Didn’t winter just end? Wasn’t it just spring? WHAT IS HAPPENING? 😂

For real, though. It feels like we jumped timelines and this one goes at 2x the speed we’re used to. I want to grab the universe by the collar, give it a good shake and yell SLOW DOWN! I CAN’T CATCH MY BREATH!

Anyway...

It’s been a very quiet week around here because your girl did not wait till the last minute to get everything done for month end. She got it done early. She gave herself wiggle room. She made a list and checked it twice and then got on with the business of slaying it. As a delicious consequence, Moonshine for August will be up tomorrow, so you art witches will have the whole weekend to dive in. We gather next Saturday for our live, so there will be lots of time to integrate.

We’re talking Presence this month.

Here’s where it took me.

This was slow cooked, by which I mean, I really took my time and let it be what I meant for it to be: a nice long cosy pause in the madness. Time to be with myself on the page.

I am chomping at the bit to make papers out of it, so it’s been scanned.

The Moon is waning gibbous in Aquarius today.

The waning gibbous Moon is where the flash of insight can begin to mellow into understanding. The Full Moon in Aquarius might have shown us a new way to think about something. Now’s the time to cosy up to it and really get to know it.

Aquarius brings our attention to individuality, belonging, community, and perspective. It asks us to consider who we really are, and how we’d like to show up when we stop trying to fit ourselves into shapes that were never ours in the first place.

For the Art Witch, this feels like good weather for using the materials, colours, textures, symbols, and themes that reoccur in your work.

🕯️ Today’s Tiny Spell: Make Yourself a Flag✨

Do your usual opening. Light a candle if that’s your jam. Touch your journal so it knows you’re there.

Open your journal to a clean page, and draw a large rectangle. You’re going to make yourself a flag.

Give it the colours you keep returning to. Add the symbols you love.

Add a keyword, a bit of stitching, a scrap of your own handwriting, a tiny drawing, a piece of washi, a pressed leaf, star, crow, eye, moon, flower, strange little blob that nobody but you understands. Anything that makes this truly yours.

There are no heraldry police. They have been dismissed. 😂

When it feels unmistakably yours, add a sentiment that feels like a manifesto. Something like:

I belong wherever I can be my whole self.

That’s it. That’s the whole spell!
